Doris Bernae Carlson Obituary Doris passed away on July 2, 2012 in Spokane, WA. She was born on April 28, 1924 in Missoula, MT to Katherine and Ralph Van Housen. She was a graduate of Lindberg High School in Valley Ford, WA. Doris went to cosmetology school and later became an instructor at Gibson?s Beauty School. On April 6, 1949 she married Ed (Skeeter) Carlson. In 1957 they bought property south of Spokane and started their own air strip which they named Ox Meadows. Together they restored many antique aircraft and autos and traveled to air shows all over the country. Later in life she began writing. She wrote many short stories about her life and many about Skeeter?s recollections of WWII. Doris is survived by her husband Skeeter Carlson and daughter Lillian Lynee Carlson. Preceding her in death were her three sisters, Lucille, Virginia and Shirley. The family asks that any donations be made to the Spokane Humane Society, 6607 N Havana St., Spokane, WA 99217. A Funeral Service will be held at Heritage Funeral Home on Monday, July 30th at 10:00 AM followed by interment at Fairmount Memorial Park. Driving antique and classic cars is encouraged.
