Dorothy A. Williams Obituary (Age 93) Dorothy went to be with her Lord and Savior on April 22, 2011 following a stroke. She was born September 23, 1917 on 3rd Ave. at the home of her grandparents who emigrated from Germany in 1889. During the depression, her family moved to Sprague Ave., where they built a home and added a filling station and motel to make ends meet, which Dorothy and her mom ran while her father worked for the Northern Pacific Railroad. She went to Sheridan Elementary School, the Franklin Middle School and then Lewis and Clark High School. After High School, she attended business college. She met her husband to be, Hubert L. Williams Sr., at a USO dance at Fort George Wright where he was stationed with the Army Air Corps. His stateside military service included several relocations including: ID, CO, UT, and AZ. During the war, her husband was stationed in the South Pacific and Dorothy returned to Spokane where their son, Hugh was born. During the Korean War, they were stationed in Fairbanks, AK while her husband was in the Air Force. Dorothy was very active in her church whether directing a children's choir, Vacation Bible School, or Sunday School. Her passion and joy were children and at 60 years of age, she accepted a teacher's aide position at Roosevelt Elementary where she worked for 10 years. Her joys in life included their Priest Lake summer home for over 40 years, her vegetable garden and flowers, baking, and crocheting. She was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years and her brother. She is survived by her son, Hugh, her grandsons, Jefery, Marc, and Michael, and numerous friends. Visitation will be 10:00AM to 5:00PM, Saturday, April 30th and 8:00AM to Noon, Monday May 2nd at Heritage Funeral Home. A Funeral Service will be 1:00PM, Monday May 2nd at Heritage Chapel.
