Dorothy Thames Breshears Emert was born on December 21, 1930, in Stanton, Texas, the 12th child of Richard and Rhoda Thames. She was the beloved wife of Kenneth Emert for 63 years.  Dorothy passed from this life on the evening of September 12, 2025 in Spokane Valley at the age of 94 years. She was known for her love of family and her genealogical research. She wrote and published several editions of a book on the Thames family, which were accepted by the Library of Congress as a classic work of genealogy. Dorothy was also a quilter who sewed 60 Foleyette dresses for Tom Foley’s Congressional campaign in 1964.
Dorothy is predeceased by seven brothers and five sisters, her parents, and her two daughters, Nancy Breshears Bolt, Robin Breshears Olfs and an infant grandson Nicholas. She is survived by her husband Kenneth Emert, three sons; Robert Breshears (Josie) of Cheney, WA; Brian Breshears (Caroline) of Kent, WA; Steve Emert (Anastacia) of Auburn, WA; one sister Susan Lehinger of Aberdeen, WA; eleven grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren. She was a cat lover and master gardener specializing in Old English roses and walks through her gardens were full of beauty and lovely scents, like a walk-through heaven.
The memorial service will be held October 2 at Heritage Funeral Home at 11:00 am. Internment to follow at 12:30 at Greenwood Cemetery. Reception after at Heritage Funeral Home.
