Dorothy F. Sparks Obituary (Age 92) Passed away in Spokane on February 27, 2011. She was born to M. Earl and Verde Peltz on June 2, 1918 in Springfield, MO. Dorothy graduated high school in Springfield and went on to Southern Missouri University where she would graduate with a degree in business. On July 2, 1939 she married William A. Sparks in Lewiston, ID. Together, they lived in Seattle, Denver, Palo Alto and Spokane. She owned multiple businesses with her husband and daughter, Linda. She loved playing card games, bingo, dominoes and yatzee. She liked going to the theater and traveling all over the world. In the last two years of her life, she went on three cruises; Australia, Hawaii and the Caribbean. Her summers were spent watching the Spokane Indians play ball. Dorothy was a member of the Spokane and Cheney Chamber of Commerce, a volunteer for Spokane Valley Partners, and for most of her life she attended local American Baptist Churches. She is survived by her daughters Carol Casey and Linda Walker, six grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, eight great-great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband of 72 years, daughter Dixie J. Graves, son-in-law Michael D. Casey, brother Earl Peltz and sister Helen Foy. A memorial service will be held at Heritage Funeral Home on Sunday, March 6, 2011 at 1 pm. Please make a memorial contribution in Dorothy's name to one of the following: Habitat for Humanity 732 N.
