Dorothy June (Edwards) White Bauer Obituary (Age 92) "June Bug" Dorothy June, 92, passed away on Friday, June 1, 2018 at Hospice of Spokane due to complications from a stroke. She was born on July 1, 1925 in Spokane and was raised by her mother Olga, daughter of Swedish immigrants, and stepfather Alvin Anderson with her older sister Virginia. A lifelong resident of Spokane, June proudly missed only one day of school in 12 years. After graduating from Lewis and Clark High School, she received her teaching degree and taught first grade for 30 years. Her and her first husband Fred White were Vandal supporters of University of Idaho. June continued to honor Fred's memory after his death by sponsoring a yearly athletic scholarship in his name. She later married Mark Bauer, and they built a beautiful brick home on the north side of town with an amazing view. She took pride in having an immaculate house and an amazing garden. She hosted many Christmas Eve dinners with traditional Swedish dishes of crab, lutefisk, and meatballs. Following family dinners, we always enjoyed playing cards together. June enjoyed playing bridge with friends, doing jigsaw puzzles, tackling the Sunday crossword puzzle, and going to Priest Lake with the Bauer family. She learned to crochet, and many new additions to our family (babies) received a beautiful handmade blanket from her. Her love of learning never stopped. June traveled the world with others and by herself. After she retired, June enjoyed going to Elder Hostel with her sister Virginia and stepdaughter Kaye. June is preceded in death by her first husband Fred White, second husband Mark Bauer, and sister Virginia (Edwards) Bockemuehl. She is survived by her stepson from her first marriage Geoffrey and Diane (wife) White, stepdaughter Kaye Young and stepson Robert Bauer, numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren from her second marriage. June is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, June 9 at 1:30 pm at Heritage Funeral Home, 508 N. Government Way, Spokane, WA. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in June's name to Hospice of Spokane or the hospice of their choice. To plant a beautiful memorial tree in memory of Dorothy June, please visit our Tree Store.
