Dorothy June Munroe Obituary MUNROE, Dorothy June (Age 96) Dorothy June Munroe was born August 6, 1921 at Greenbluff, WA. June spent her youth in the Yakima Valley and was the last one to attend her high school reunion she never forgot her roots. She came to Spokane to attend the Kinmann Business College where she learned many skills in office work and organization. Junes work experience included many years at Westtinghouse, Inc. in Spokane, from which she retired. June married Bill Munroe in 1946. June and Bill built a cabin on Deer Lake, developing a lifelong friendship with neighbors Jim Santora and family. The Santora family became a second family to June, sharing many happy times. Upon retirement, June became an avid volunteer, eventually ending her volunteer career at the Second Harvest Food Bank at the age of 96. Many caring friends resulted from her volunteer work. June loved to tour, exploring many areas of interest, and taking many pictures. Alert and interested in life and politics to the end, Junes body finally said, Enough; let someone else balance the books and solve the political mess. June is survived by her granddaughters, Sandra Enquist and Gayle Albee; cousins, Alice Penna and Alan Stricker and numerous relatives. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bill; stepson, Bob; parents, Elsie and Harvey Stites; and brothers, Don and Doug. Junes family would like to thank all of the fine staff at Riverview. Your care and attention to June was appreciated by all. A graveside service will take place on Friday, July 27th at 10:30am at Greenwood Memorial Terrace, 211 N. Government Way, Spokane, WA. Memorial contributions in her name may be made to an organization of your choice. To plant a beautiful memorial tree in memory of Dorothy, please visit our Tree Store.
