Dorothy L. (Unger) Collison

Dorothy L. (Unger) Collison Obituary Devoted wife, mother and grandmother, Dorothy passed away on September 18th at the age of 91 surrounded by her family. Dorothy was born in Odessa, Washington, to Ralph and Clara Unger. She graduated from North Central High School in 1938 and Kinman Business School. After graduating, Dorothy worked at a car dealership and then Washington Water Power. She enjoyed riding bikes to the Bowl and Pitcher at Riverside State Park and picnicking with co-workers from WWP. In her earlier days, she enjoyed tennis, golf, bike riding, ice skating, skiing and any type of socializing with family, friends and co-workers. While working at WWP, she met her husband Ken on a blind date. Dorothy used to ride the bus down to Pullman and back on Friday nights to attend dances with Ken while he was a student at Washington State College. They were married in 1947 and had three sons. Dorothy returned to work after the children were born, working for the City of Spokane Civil Service and Retirement departments, where she later retired. She was a devoted and loving wife, caring for her husband at home and visiting him daily while he was in a nursing home. Dorothy always enjoyed spending time with her sons and their families. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband Kenneth. She is survived by her son Robert (Susan), grandchildren Sean and Lisa, son Craig (Cathey) of Jonesboro, Arkansas, son Bruce (Cathy) of Walla Walla, and grandchildren Chris and Michael. The family would like to thank the great caregivers at Guardian Angel Homes for their loving compassionate care and support. They and the other residents became Mom?s secondary family. Visitation will be Wednesday 10-5pm at Heritage. Funeral Service 2:00PM Thursday, September 23, 2010 at Heritage Chapel followed by a graveside service at Greenwood Memorial Terrace.
