April 05, 1921 - March 24, 2012

Dorothy M. Bell Obituary Dorothy M. Bell passed away on March 24, 2012 at Holy Family Hospital in Spokane, WA. She was born on April 5, 1921 to Arthur F. and Rose S Vorlicky Schwartz in Thief River Falls, Minnesota. Dorothy spent her early years on the family farm near there. In 1927, when she was six years old, the extended family moved to Spokane. Several generations lived in the same house until the family was established in the city. After graduating from North Central High School Dorothy married Ray L. Bell and they had two children. During this time Dorothy lived the life of wife and mother. She also worked for a time as a bookkeeper at Montgomery Wards and she kept the books for a family business. After retiring she and Ray traveled in their RV around the country and enjoyed several winters in Arizona. They also experienced cruises and trips to Europe, the Far East and Hawaii. Her life revolved around her family and she enjoyed sewing, knitting, crocheting and other home projects. She created many treasured afghans, sweaters and articles of clothing. After 69 years of marriage Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband Ray. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law Carol and Roger Davis of Roseville, CA, and their children: Kathleen and Craig Osten of Phoenix, AZ, and their daughter Jessica and Keaton Smith, also of Phoenix; and their son Paul Davis of Sacramento, CA. She is also survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Steve and Judy Bell of Spokane, and their children: Teresa and Arthur Couts of Anchorage, AK; Jacob and Gretchen Bell of Vancouver, WA, and their daughters Lindsey and Ava; and Andrew and Andrea Bell of Lincoln, CA and their son Dayton and daughter Braylen. A family gathering to celebrate her life will be held in the summer.
