Dorothy Mae (Tollett) Morris

February 26, 1934 - October 04, 2014

Dorothy Mae (Tollett) Morris Obituary (Age 80) Dorothy was born February 26, 1934 in Oakesdale, Washington. She passed away peacefully October 4, 2014 surrounded by her loving family. She grew up in Spokane and attended Libby Junior High and graduated from Lewis and Clark High School. Her first job after school was at the Credit Bureau, where she acquired many lifelong friends. She met and married the love of her life John Morris in 1960. For a number of years she spent her time caring for their children and assisting John in his construction business by doing the books, painting walls, laying tile, or anything else. She loved flower and vegetable gardening and canning, and was known for her great cooking. Her hobbies included: bowling, pinochle, bingo, aerobics with daughter Bev, and playing the slot machines (and she was pretty lucky)! In 1992 Dorothy began working at her daughter Linda's company, Nova Services, a non-profit organization that served people with disabilities. She worked as a Job Coach there for 15 years. During this time, she assisted hundreds of people to learn job and personal skills. She brought much compassion, caring and enthusiasm to the people and touched many lives. After she retired, time was spent traveling, going to art galleries and craft fairs, attending outdoor music concerts, and many live plays with her family. She especially loved to dress up in her sparkly clothes and go out to eat. She loved to talk and socialize and was always the life of the party. Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, Ray and Mae Tollett, her brother Robert Tollett, sister Maxine Walker, and grandson Jason Dungan. She is survived by her husband John Morris; children Linda Brennan (Hugh Kelly), Bev Mandy and John P. Morris; grandchildren Bryanna, Julianna, (Michael), Bobby, Johnny, Dustin, Shauna, Chris, Shad, Courtney, Samantha and Michael; and one great-grandchild Hailey. The family wishes to thank Sunshine Gardens, Deaconess Hospital, and Hospice for their extraordinary care given to our loved one. A memorial and graveside service will be held on Saturday, October 11, 2014 at 2:30pm at Heritage Funeral Home. Viewing will be one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers please make donations to the Hospice House of Spokane, PO Box 2215, Spokane, WA 99210 or at www.hospiceofspokane.org.
