Dorothy Rae Powell Obituary (Age 81) Dorothy Rae (Irvine) Powell was born on August 6, 1935 in Missoula, MT to Frederick Charles Irvine and Ruby Eleanora (Butte) Irvine. Graduated in 1953 from John R. Rogers High School. Married Ronald Thomas Powell, went on to raise her family. As her children grew, she volunteered as a Girl Scout leader and PTA mom, receiving the Golden Acorn award for her exemplary service. Pursuing her passion for children, she worked for Spokane Public Schools, dedicating 30 years of her life to loving her students, watching them learn, and striving to help them reach their highest potential. Retiring in 2000, she lived out a full life in Spokane with family. On April 19, 2017, after 81 years, the last chapter of her life was written. Survived by husband, Ronald Powell; son, Edward Jeffrey Craig; daughters, Ronda Kay (Powell) Dahl, Rebecca Sue (Powell) Johnson and Amy Charlene (Powell) Blankenship; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by parents and siblings. Services will be held at 2:00 pm, on Saturday, July 1, 2017, at Heritage Funeral Home.
