Dorothy Ruth (Bowie) Pattee Obituary Passed away March 21, 2013 at Touchmark Retirement Home. Born in 1911 to Thomas and Anna Bowie in San Francisco, CA. She began her schooling in Alamdea, CA and graduated from San Jose State College in 1935 with a degree in Home Economics. Initially, Dottie was employed in the wholesale music business, export department in San Francisco. She joined the Aetna Life Insurance Co. in San Francisco and then transferred to the New York office. For a time she was employed by the United Nations in San Francisco during its early years. Dottie married Stanley Pattee in March 1947, who preceded her in death in 1982. She enjoyed volunteer work in many organizations such as the YWCA, AAUW, Assistants, the Kappa Tau Study Group, Listeners Study Group and 14 Limited Investment Group. In addition to extensive volunteer work, she loved traveling to the Orient, Europe, and the continental USA. She is survived by her nephew David and Mary Young of Discovery Bay, CA, cousins Ruth Magill King of Santa Rosa, and Doris Magill Smith, also of Santa Rosa. Dottie was one of the original investors and residents in the Waterford when it opened over 20 years ago. She was known by everyone. The family would like to thank the staff at the Waterford/Touchmark for their compassion, understanding and wonderful care over the years. A memorial service will be held at Touchmark on the South Hill, Monday April 1, 11:00am in the Forum.
