Dorthy Irene Grater Obituary Our Sister, our Mother, our Mentor, our Best Friend has passed. Dorthy was loving devoted Wife, Sister, Mother, Artist, and Loyal Friend. Always happy to hear her voice on the other end of the line or get a hand made heartfelt card in your mail box you knew you were in for enlightenment. As a life long resident of Spokane, a graduate of Hamilton Grade School (1936) and John Rogers High School (1940) and she made many friends and cherished them to the end. Dorthy was an active member of the Royal Order of the Amaranth, Spokane Weavers Guild and huge supporter of the Hutton Settlement. She and Bob (husband of 57 years) traveled the region with friends and family Rock Hounding, exploring and decimating the oyster population up and down Hood Canal. Preceded in death by her parents Ira and Mary Fuller, husband Robert E., and son Stephen E. Grater. Dorthy is survived by her son Stann C. Grater, all from Spokane, WA. The void left by the passing of Dorthy I. Grater is a canyon. The time has come for you to go find Bob and order another dozen oysters for all of us that will miss you immensely. Rest in peace dear girl, you had a good run. A Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, July 13, 2017 at 12:00 noon at Heritage Funeral Home. Dorthy will be laid to rest next to husband Bob and son Steve at Fairmount Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Hutton Settlement, Spokane, WA.
