Duane Renz Obituary (Age 84) Passed into Gods eternal grace Monday, May 14th surrounded by family and with his dog, Watson, sitting attentively at the end of his bed. A barrel-chested farm boy from Fort Collins, Colorado, Duane served the United States for 40 years 20 as an Air Force Crew Chief maintaining mid-century jets and spy planes; 20 in civil service and travelled the world on tours in Okinawa, Japan; Ubon, Thailand and Guam. His work required physical strength and meticulous command of details. He maintained both throughout his life, working out at Pearsons Gym and then the Eagles Lodge well into his 50s and keeping detailed maintenance records of everything around his house. He retired from active duty in 1973 to focus on raising his large (and still growing) family, the only thing that brought him more pride than his military service. Duane had an infectious laugh and a wicked sense of humor, traits that survive in his children, Theresa, Stephen, Mark, Julie & Michael; 10 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. His childrens spouses, Dennis, Kristen, Michele & Neil, are grateful for Duanes open-heartedness and compassion. We were all honored to hold round-the-clock vigil in his final days, the way he had kindly and quietly cared for us our whole lives. Duanes life was bound by duty and diligence. He spent the final 9 years of that life gathering his dog, grabbing a latte, and taking daily walks to visit his wife, MIckey, at Riverside Memorial Park. He was still able to make those pilgrimages (ideally alone; lately with the help of his kids) just a week before his death. The family feels that when Duane could no longer visit his wife, he decided to go be with her for good. We will miss him as we miss her deeply, and for the rest of our lives but take great solace in the fact that Mickey and Duane are reunited. Graveside Service 2:30pm Tuesday, May 22, 2018 at Riverside Memorial Park. To plant a beautiful memorial tree in memory of Duane, please visit our Tree Store. Read more Events MAY 14
