Edith J. (Larson) Fogelquist

Edith J. (Larson) Fogelquist Obituary (Age 98) Born in Spokane, Washington on March 16, 1915 to parents, Eric and Nanda Larson. Edith spent the first eight years of her life on a farm outside of Athol, Idaho. After that, she and her family moved to Spokane, where she graduated from North Central High School. Upon graduation, Edith worked as a bookkeeper at Fogelquist?s Men?s Clothing Store in downtown Spokane for ten years. During World War II, Edith spent two years in Phoenix, AZ and Denver, CO. Upon her return to Spokane, Edith began her work as a bookkeeper at Building Supply, Inc. where she stayed for the next 28 years. In 1974 Edith married Austin Carlson in Spokane. After that, she and Austin lived in Coupeville, Washington on Whidbey Island for fourteen years, returning to Spokane in 1993. After Austin passed away, Edith later married Stan Fogelquist in 1995. Stan passed away in 2001. Edith was a former member of the First Covenant Church, where she was the organist for thirty-five years. Edith was also the pianist for the weekly church services at her residence at Harbor Crest Retirement Community up until December, 2013. Edith was also a member of the local VASA Lodge. Edith is survived by two nieces, Arlene Bemben of Bellevue, WA, Pam Roberts of Kent, WA and one nephew, Craig Larson of Spokane. Edith is also survived by step-daughters, Alice Delefield of Paradise Valley, AZ, Janet Wison of Brookfield, WI and Lois Johnston of Spokane. She is also survived by several step-nieces, nephews and grandchildren. Edith went home to the Lord on Sunday, January 20, 2014 after a brief illness. Edith was loved by all who had the good fortune to know her. A Graveside Service will be held at Riverside Memorial Park at 11:00am on Friday, January 24, 2014, followed by a Memorial Service at 1:00pm at Harbor Crest Retirement Community. Donations to the Union Gospel Mission would be appreciated in lieu of flowers.
