Edward Elda Russell

September 10, 1917 - August 17, 2009

Edward Elda Russell Obituary (Age 91) Ed was born to Elda R. and Cecil Frazer Russell September 10, 1917 at his parents home in Spokane and went to sleep in the Lord August 17, 2009. He was the oldest of three children. His family moved to Addy, WA when he was a child and when he started school his father bought him a horse to ride to school. As a child Ed encountered wild animals and once while playing by the chicken house a cougar sneaked up and was ready to spring when his dog chased it off. Another time while picking huckleberries a bear was on the other side of the bushes and when Ed saw him he ran to his parents, falling en route and spilling the huckleberries. The family moved back to Spokane after Ed finished first grade. He attended Four Mound School and high school at Spokane Junior Academy. During his freshman year his mother passed away. After graduation from high school he took an electricians correspondence course. He worked in a repair shop and after learning the carpenter trade started a construction business and built many houses and other buildings. He married Marcella Indergaard June 18, 1939 and they raised two sons, Loney and Randall. Ed was preceded in death by wife Marcella, son Randy, and sisters Florence and Alice. He is survived by son Loney (Kathy); daughter-in-law Kathy (Randy's wife); grandchildren Ross, Desiree and Melissa Russell, all of Spokane. Ed was a lifetime member of Spokane Central Seventh-day Adventist Church and served as Deacon for many years and enjoyed other church related activities. After he retired from the building work he took church videos to shut-ins, visited church members and gave bible studies. He was completely dedicated to his church. Funeral Services are at 2:30 PM Saturday, August 29, 2009 at Central Seventh-day Adventist Church, 828 W. Spofford.
