Edwin C. Thompson Obituary (Age 96) Passed away on Sept. 4, 2011. He was born on Dec. 2, 1914 in Spokane, WA and was a life long resident of the city. In 1933 he quit high school to join the C.C.C. to help his family during the depression. After a 13 month tour he returned home and went back to school and graduated from Lewis Clark High School in 1935. During the late 30's he worked as an elevator operator in several office buildings in the downtown area. In 1940 he went to work at the US Post Office. In 1942 he enlisted in the US Navy. During the war he served on Naval Air Stations as an Arial Torpedo man. After the war he went back to the Post Office until his retirement in 1972. HE married his wife Edith in 1953. After they retired they loved to travel and have taken trips to all seven continents, which include Antarctica. He also was a serious home movie maker and belonged to the now defunct Spokane Movie Club and won many awards with his films. He was also interested in doing needlepoint and their home was full of tapestries of all types and sizes. In his younger years he enjoyed fishing and camping and also doing and yard work Edwin belonged to the American Legion Post #9, the North Hill Masonic Lodge 210 and NARFE Chapter 32. Survivors include three grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren and a stepson Fred A. Graham of Belmont, CA. He is preceded in death by his wife, Edit
