Edwin "Ted" Alonzo Straub Obituary
(Age 83) Ted was born to Fred W. and Bertha Straub on April 12, 1933 in Ft. McClellan, AL. Ted passed on November 29, 2016 in Spokane.
Ted moved to Spokane and went to Garfield Grade School. He played football and other team sports at North Central High School. He joined the Air National Guard in high school and then was activated to the United States Air Force in May of 1951. In 1957 he moved to Long Beach, CA and married Lorrita Loomis of Spokane. They were married for 59 years. In 1960 he joined the Long Beach Police Department and was promoted to Police Sergeant; he was on the Police Department for 28 years.
His hobby was repairing and making clocks for family and friends. Ted retired in 1988 due to health problems. Every chance he got, the family and friends would go camping in the desert, go for target practice and long motorcycle rides. In 1994 he moved back to Spokane and lived on Long Lake where he loved to go fishing with his friend and neighbor, Leo. After retirement, Ted enjoyed traveling and going on cruises.
Ted is survived by his wife, Lorrita Straub; sister, Dolores Bedell of Depoe Bay, OR; sons, Todd Straub of Harbor City, CA, Shawn (Louise) Straub of Riverside, CA and Scott (Eileen) Straub of Middleburg, FL; grandchildren, Kevin, Russel, Seth, Kristin Wildermuth and Molly; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
A visitation will be held Friday, December 9th at 11:00am at Sunset Chapel, 5200 West Wellesley, Spokane, WA 99205. A funeral service will be held at 12:00pm following the visitation.
