Elaine Mae Sanford Obituary (Age 86) Passed away September 20, 2012. She was born October 17, 1925 in Filmore County, MN to Louis and Mahla (Grabau) Wondrasch. She went to college after graduating high school in Minnesota to become a teacher. Elaine was married to Arlo Sanford and together they had lived in Minnesota, California and for the last 53 years in Spokane. She was a nurse at St. Luke's Hospital and Southcrest Nursing Home, the last 10 years of employment was at Interlake with children. She enjoyed sewing and crafts, reading and was very active in community services and organizations, spending time with grandchildren and family. Elaine was a 50 year member of Salem Lutheran Church, did volunteer work for Our Place, Meals on Wheels, Union Gospel Mission, Ogden Hall and was active with the Democratic Political Party. She is survived by her brother Dale Wondrasch in Spring Valley, MN; son Gene Sanford (Nancey) of Spokane, their daughter Hannah; daughter Judy Carter of Spokane , her daughter Kimberly with three grandchildren Amariah, Sebastian, Sofia and one great-grandson Kaden all of Spokane; daughter Dr. Ailene Weimer (Harry), and their son, Joshua of Ft. Morgan, CO; son Floyd Sanford of Spokane; daughter Nancy Kuester (Dr. Ed) and their children, Daniel, Nicolee, Annalise of Boulder, CO. She was preceded in death by her parents, sister Shirley of Spring Valley, MN and her husband Arlo of Spokane. Visitation will be Monday 10-5PM at Heritage and her Memorial Service 12 Noon Tuesday Sept. 25th at Salem Lutheran Church, 1428 W. Broadway Spokane 99201 with interment at Fairmount Memorial Park. Memorial contributions may be made to Salem Lutheran Church.
