Eleanor Lena (Mayers) Longo Obituary Eleanor Lena (Mayers) Longo died July 12, 2011. Born September 8, 1920 to Michael and Barbara Mayers in Bynum, MT. She was the eldest of their four children. The family took up ranching near Polson, MT where the children were raised. After graduating from high school, Eleanor moved to Seattle. On April 23, 1942 Eleanor and Orlando "Ray" Longo were married. Their only child, Sharon Rae, was born in 1945. The Longo family lived in Pasco, San Francisco, Denver, Richland, Seattle, Hawaii and Milwaukee before settling in Spokane in 1963. Eleanor had worked as a nanny, housekeeper, waitress, vocational teacher and homemaker. She enjoyed sewing, handwork, reading, gardening and traveling. She was very active in her church for over 40 years. Eleanor is survived by her daughter Sharon Unruh of Walla Walla, WA, and her sister Rogeria Wilson of Denver. She is preceded in death by her husband, youngest sister Marion Mayers, brother John Robert Mayers and step-sister Elizabeth "Betty" Martin. The celebration of her life will be held July 18, 2011 at 10:00AM with a Mass at St. Charles Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Greenwood Memorial Park. She now joins her husband Ray in the presence of their beloved Lord Jesus Christ. In lieu of flowers the family suggests gifts to the American Alzheimer's Association or Hospice.
