Eleanor Linnea (Carlson) Peterson Obituary A longtime resident of Spokane WA and Merrill Gardens Academy passed away quietly with her son Michael Carlson at her bedside at Holy Family Hospital June 17, 2015. Her beautiful smile, generous spirit, and kind nature will truly be missed. She was born January 13, 1922 in Halliday, ND to Hugo and Lillian Carlson. She enjoyed the farm life in Halliday with her parents, brother Einar Carlson and numerous extended family members before joining the Army in April 1943. As a teenager she played basketball and later became a diehard Gonzaga basketball fan. She moved to Spokane, WA where she raised her two children Michael Carlson and Linnea (Carlson) Reuthinger. She met and married the love of her life Allen Peterson and welcomed his two sons Paul and Bruce Peterson into her life. She worked as a medical bookkeeper for 20 years, but her family, friends, numerous pets, church and gardening were her true focus and joy. She touched many people with her kindness and with the gift of hospitality. She spent many years praying for others and providing health kits to the mission field. She was truly a follower of Jesus Christ and exhibited this in her daily life. Eleanor is preceded in death by her parents, brother Einar Carlson and his wife Mavis, husband Allen Peterson, daughter Linnea Reuthinger, and grandson Jeremy Groom. She is survived by her son Michael Carlson and wife Lianne, stepsons Paul (Katherine) and Bruce (Julie) Peterson, son in law Larry Reuthinger, numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, extended family and friends. Eleanor will be greatly missed by all who loved her. A special thanks to the staff and friends at The Academy. A funeral service will be held at Heritage Funeral Home, 508 N. Government Way, Spokane on Saturday June 27, 2015 at 11:30.
