Eleanor Louise Butler Obituary
After a courageous battle with cancer, Eleanor Louise Butler was called to Heaven on December 11, 2010. She was surrounded by her family and close friends in her home at Loon Lake, WA. Eleanor was born in New Plymouth, Idaho on August 10, 1926 to Nellie and Walter Manis. She was the youngest of 6 children, earning her the nickname of "runt". She was preceded in death by all five of her siblings: Hazel Brown, M L "Buck" Manis, Lena Greene, Lela Phillips and Evelyn Little. She graduated from McCall High School at the early age of 17 and went on to complete business school in Boise, ID. She met John H. Butler in Grangeville, ID and married him on July 4, 1948 in College Place, WA. They moved to the Spokane Valley in 1952. She helped him manage the family business, J H Butler Basements, until his passing in 1985. Together they had two children, David Butler and Janice Payne. She continued to live in the family home until July 2010. Eleanor enjoyed traveling, fishing, camping, cooking, sewing, playing cards and reading. She provided many memorable Holiday dinners to grateful family members and guests. Homemade noodles, pies and cinnamon rolls were her specialties. Many years were spent camping and fishing in the Prichard, Idaho area. She was an amazing Mother, homemaker, caregiver and friend to many. Above all, she loved her family and any activity that could be enjoyed together. She took great pride in her family and always put the needs of others first.
She is survived by her son David (Sue) Butler, Washington, UT, her daughter Janice (Mike) Payne, Loon Lake, WA, her grandchildren Katy (Josh) Pietz, Pullman, WA, John (McCayla) Butler, Renton, WA, Mike (Laura) Butler, Bothell, WA and many nieces and nephews. Her love and contributions made the world a greater place, but we can be thankful that she in a better place, free of pain. She always supported us with great love and caring and will always hold a special place in our hearts forever. She was truly a blessing from God above. A memorial will held a later date.
