Eleanor R. "Cricket" Amsden Obituary
Our beloved Mother, Grandmother, Aunt and Friend acquired her wings to fly home to eternal life in the early morning of April 5, 2017. Mom was born in Columbus Ohio on January 26, 1938. Family and friends have taken umbrage to her passing, but pass on glorious and heart warming memories of her. She was preceded in death by her husband Harrold Amsden, Richard Oates (father of Robin, Randall, Rebecca), mother of Lillian Talley, father Claude Ramsey, stepson Lynn Amsden, four sisters Audrey, Barbra, Shirley, Jenny; and one brother Steve. Mom being a strong and determined woman, hitchhiked with her sister Barbra from the Midwest to Washington State at a tender age of 15. She then found her way down to San Diego where she met her children's father Richard. Mom and Dad divorced in 1976 and Mom remarried in August 1977 to our beloved second Dad, Harrold Amsden. Cricket was an outstanding and loving person for many things she did, but her biggest accomplishment was caring and loving for many of her nieces and nephews when her younger siblings had passed on themselves. Mom always loved and believed in family and never wanted to be separated through death, so they would come to live with our family. Cricket also was a Girl Scout leader, Girl Scout cookie chair person and a Boy Scout leader. She also dressed up for Halloween as a witch and at Christmas as Mrs. Claus to lead classrooms around the school or to play Mrs. Claus at VFW 1474. She made holidays memorable, our "owwies" less hurtful, and our childhood unsurpassed. In 2011, Mom fell ill to lung cancer as well as having previous ailments. Mom didn't let cancer define her at age 73, but instead she was a true testament of God's love and his ability to Save our life on Earth for almost six years until the good Lord took her home, hand in hand, to see her loved ones. Our beloved Mother, Aunt and Friend, will be tremendously missed and loved forever. Eleanor is survived by her sons: Robin (Patty) and Randall (Cathy Oates), daughter Rebecca Revard; 13 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. Viewing at Heritage on Thursday, April 20th, 10am-5pm and Friday, April 21st, 8am-5pm. Graveside services will be held at 12:30 on Saturday, April 22nd, 2017 at Greenwood Memorial Terrace, 211 N. Government Way. A memorial lunch will follow at Hampton Inn, 2010 S. Assembly Rd., Spokane WA 99224 at 2pm. Thank you all for the warm thoughts of Mom. May she rest in peace with our Heavenly Father.
