Eleanora Carolyn Ayers Krauel

March 23, 1914 - June 30, 2012

Eleanora Carolyn Ayers Krauel Obituary (Age 98) Eleanora passed into the arms of Jesus on June 30, 2012. Born on March 23, 1914 in Larimore, ND, she was the middle child and only daughter between six brothers. The family moved from Nort Dakota to Los Angeles, CA in 1924 where Eleanora graduated from high school and attended UCLA. She married Eugene Ray Ayers on June 25, 1948 in Inglewood, CA. Their son, Ray was born in 1952. She retired after 39 years with the Los Angeles City School District and moved to Spokane in 1977. They resided in Spokane until Gene's death in 1984. She was active in senior centers in north Spokane volunteering to transport friends enjoying lunches together and afternoons calling and playing bingo. She met Herbert Krauel at one of those centers and they married in November, 1987. One of her life's wishes was to travel to Sweden from where her father immigrated in 1903. She and Herb traveled to Sweden together in 1988. Herb passed away in 1998. Favorite past times included traveling, reading, and being an avid fan of the LA Lakers, Dodgers and Seattle Mariners. Before her hands were crippled with arthritis, she enjoyed knitting, crocheting and working hours at crossword puzzles. She was a member of Shiloh Baptist Church in north Spokane. Preceded in death by her father and mother, Carl and Alma Anderson; six brothers, Swen, Gottfried, Ray, Ed, Karl and Dan; husbands Eugene and Herbert. She is survived by her son, Ray (Kathy); two grandchildren, Tim (Rhonda), and Amy Ayers; four great-grandchildren, Quentin, Paxton, Tiegan and Brayten Ayers all of Spokane; sister in law, Ruth Jones of Big Bear Lake, CA; and nine nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank Eleanora's caregivers, and Family Home Health Care and Hospice for their love, support and excellent care of Eleanora over the past 6.5 years. A graveside service will be held at 3 p.m. on Thursday, July 5 at Riverside Memorial Park with Pastor W. Earl Appleby officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to Family Home Health Care and Hospice of Spokane or Shiloh Hills Fellowship church.
