Eleen Jeffers Obituary Eleen passed away on May 9, 2018 at the age of 92. Eleen Mae Leitz was born on May 14, 1925 at the Leitz family farm near Waverly, Washington. Just before the 1900s, all four of her grandparents moved from Germany to establish a new life for their children in the United States. Eleen and her three siblings, Glenn, Homer and Joyce, attended grade school in a one-room schoolhouse in Spring Valley, Washington. In good weather, they would walk the three miles from home to school, and when it snowed their father would take them with a two horse team. Eleen finished eighth grade the year World War II begun, and then by the following fall she was enrolled in Kinman Business University (now Trend College) to learn how to work in an office. In 1945, she met and married Emmett Jeffers who was newly back from the Army. Emmett considered Eleen's father the father figure he never had and they spent much time together hunting and fishing. In 1952, Eleen and Emmett had their one and only daughter, Karen Anne Jeffers and built a wonderful life together on the South Hill in Spokane. Eleen is known for her strength, intellect and faith, living as a devout Lutheran all of her life and was supported by her family at Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church. She loved to spend time with her family, her extended set of over 24 cousins, and to follow the story of Queen Elizabeth and the rest of royal family in England. She is preceded in death by her parents Adolph Leitz and Caroline Ruff, her beloved sister Joyce, loving husband Emmett Jeffers, and beautiful daughter Karen Jeffers Raschio. She is survived by her brother Glenn Leitz and granddaughter Justine Jeffers Raschio. To plant a beautiful memorial tree in memory of Eleen, please visit our Tree Store. Read more Events MAY 9
