Elizabeth Ann "Liz" Wiggins-Barstad Obituary In loving memory of Elizabeth "Liz" Ann Wiggins-Barstad. We sadly announce her passing which occurred November 19, 2011 in the care of the loving staff at the Cheney Care Center and under the careful watch of her son David A. Hawley and his significant other Janell. Liz was born to Rudolph and Emma Hanson on December 10, 1937 in White Earth, ND. She had nine siblings and is survived by her sisters Eileen Breadstrand and Florence Delong as well as her brother Claude Hanson. Liz married Russell L. Hawley and they had five children. She is survived by four of her children: Russell J. Hawley, Roberta "Bobby" Fagan, David A. Hawley and Merianne Hawley. Liz was preceded in death by her daughter Rosland Rexroad. Her children gave her numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren whom she loved dearly. Liz worked hard and received her Licensed Practical Nurse degree in 1974. She worked as a floor nurse at the Veterans Hospital from 1973-1980, and also worked at Deer Park Hospital in the 1980s. Liz opened Whispering Pines Adult Family Home from 1983-1996, where everyone was treated with love and special attention in a family environment. Also preceding Liz in death are husbands Russell L. Hawley, James Wiggins and James Barstad, as well as her beloved companion Roy D. Hill. In her retirement years she lived in Desert Hot Springs where she was a part of a loving, caring community. Liz utilized her nurses training and was a medical 1st responder, where she came to the aid of many. Her friends there were like family. To celebrate Liz's life there will be a Memorial Service at Heritage Funeral Home. The date is deferred until spring to ensure safe travels for distant family and friends.
