Elizabeth H. "Betsy" Parsons Obituary Betsy of Spokane, WA was born in Manhattan, NY to George Loring Hubbell, Jr. and Sophia Milbank Young on July 12, 1922. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of thirty years, The Reverend E. Finch Parsons, M.D. Betsy was also preceded in death by her siblings, Sophia M. Collens, George Loring Hubbell, III, Barbara H. Field, Susan Wohlers and Lt. Col. William M. Hubbell. Betsy passed away on February 7, 2014 surrounded by her loving family members. Betsy and Finch Parsons broke tradition and moved to the ?wild west? in 1955. She is survived by her children, Brian M. Parsons of Alaska, Dorothea (Glen) Shoup of Spokane, James B. Parsons of Seattle, and Carol Parsons. She is also survived by her adoring grandchildren, Nathan, Adrienne, William, Maria and Michael, as well as many nieces and nephews. Betsy graduated from St. Margaret?s School in Waterbury, CT and Garden City (NY) High School. She also attended Wells College and studied Accounting. Betsy was the Financial Secretary for the Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist before retiring. After retirement, Betsy volunteered at the Deaconess Auxiliary, YWCA, Meals on Wheels, Saddle Acres Riding School for the Handicapped, and COPS Southeast. She was a woman of many talents, first an accomplished athlete (swimmer and women?s lacrosse), seamstress, quilter (Sew & Sew group) and so much more. Betsy was known for her quiet, humble and loving spirit. She always placed family and friends before herself. A Memorial Service will be held at The Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist, 127 E. 12th Ave., Spokane, WA on Saturday, March 1st at 1:00 PM. The family wishes to acknowledge a special thanks to all the medical professionals and caregivers at Touchmark for taking such good care of Betsy. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Cathedral of St. John.
