Ella La "Vina" (Van Horne) Ridnour Obituary
(Age 82) Mom passed away Wednesday evening at Royal Park Care Center in Spokane, surrounded by family after a long battle with declining health. Even in her final days she had a strong sense of humor and was making plans for the future as if she would never run out of tomorrows. She is survived by two brothers; Larry Van Horne, Ron Van Horne, three children; Terry Powell, Jerry Ridnour, Mike Ridnour as well as seven grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, numerous nephews, nieces and cousins. Born in Wilbur, WA, she attended Mead and Arlington elementary and graduated from Deer Park High school in 1948. She had a few jobs throughout her life but spent most of her time as a wife, mother, homemaker, cub scout den mother, Sunday school bus driver, second mother to most of our friends, and whatever else needed doing. She loved to cook and she loved to eat. She was one of the best candy makers I know; the holidays will not be the same. She was a very kind and giving person who would never turn away anyone in need even though she was often in need herself. She loved to dance, socialize, take road trips, laugh and spend time with family and friends. It didn't seem to matter what we were doing, so long as we were together. She was a Life Member of the Eagles and an active member of the Over 60 Singles club of North Spokane. A funeral service will be at Heritage Funeral Home on Tuesday July 2nd at 2:00 pm. She will be cremated then laid to rest in Spokane-Cheney Memorial Gardens at a later date. Special thanks to Royal Park Care Center of Spokane for two years of tender loving care, the staff is truly amazing.
