Ellen "Erlene" Wheeler Manning Obituary (Age 88) Erlene was born January 2, 1929 in Klamath Falls, OR. and died June 1, 2017 in Spokane, WA. Erlene obtained her teaching degree from Eastern Washington University and taught elementary students in the early years of marriage. She was a devoted wife and aunt. There were many trips with family and friends; from camping with the nephews, Mazatlan and Reno with friends, trips to Loon Lake, and traveling to see family. Erlene loved talking with people everywhere she went and never left the house without her lipstick. Breakfast was predictable with her--coffee and two cookies. Erlene loved being busy and enjoyed things like bowling with her Eagle Electric team, Couples Dance Club, boating, lunches and dinners with friends. She liked serving and munching on Appetizers and snacks at gatherings. She also appreciated time to do crafting/sewing/crocheting, using her amazing artistic ability, working in her yard, and relished the sunshine. She was a strong woman who always faced challenges head on and was independent, even in her last days. Erlene was preceded in death by her parents Gerald and Freda, her husband George, and her sister Marilyn. She leaves behind nephews Steve Cain, Mike Cain, Greg Cain, niece Sheryl Cyr, great nephews and niece, great-great nephews and nieces, cousins and special friends. Graveside Service will be held on Tuesday, June 13th, 2017 at 12:30pm at Greenwood Memorial Terrace 211 North Government Way, Spokane, WA. Donations in her memory can be made to Hospice House of Spokane.
