Ellsworth A. Moland

Ellsworth A. Moland Obituary (Age 85) He died October 6, 2010 at home in Spokane, He was born March 31, 1925 in Fargo, ND to Oscar T. and Ellen M. Moland (both were immigrants from Norway). Ellsworth was one of five children in his family. He spent his childhood in various towns and small cities in North Dakota. After moving to Spokane with his family during his later teenage years he attended North Central H.S. He joined the Army Air Corp immediately after graduation during WWII. Stationed in England and France during the war, he served in aircraft maintenance depots. At the end of the war he returned home to Spokane to join family members in a grocery business. In 1947 he married Mary E. Burns who had also attended North Central H.S. They raised two daughters while living on the north side of Spokane. Ellsworth continued in business with his father for many years by jointly operating Moland Greeting Card Company, a wholesale enterprise. He added 50% Off Card Shops, a greeting card and party supply business, in following years with five retail locations. Ellsworth enjoyed dancing, bowling, traveling, and dinners out with his wife Mary. Upon Mary's death a number of years ago he continued to travel and vacation with his daughters. Ellsworth felt very blessed by the Lord to enjoy over 30 years of satisfying life after a near fatal heart attack in middle age. He and Mary were members of Grace Baptist Church for many years. Over the years, Ellsworth also attended Trinity Baptist, Shiloh Baptist, and Northview Bible Church with his children. He had a strong love for America and it's founding values. He enjoyed reading books about America's history, its hero's, and about political viewpoints discussing our country's direction over recent decades. He enjoyed running his business and remained active with it up until his death. Ellsworth also enjoyed holidays and special occasions with his daughters, grandchildren, and extended family. He continued to enjoy traveling to the Oregon coast in his later years. Ellsworth is survived by his two daughters; Linda Powell of Spokane and Debra (Harold) Molony of Colbert; seven grandchildren; 17 (and one half!) great-grandchildren and a sister Audrey Reynolds of Portland, OR. He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife Mary; as well as his sister Margie and his brothers Vernon and Veryl. A Graveside Service will be held Friday, October 15 at 12:30 pm at Riverside Memorial Park, 508 N. Government Way. A Memorial Service is planned for Saturday, October 16 at 10:00AM at Northview Bible Church, 13521 N. Mill Rd.
