Ellsworth Frank Lorentz Obituary Ellsworth Frank "Ells" Lorentz passed away on August 12, 2015 at Good Samaritan Society in Spokane Valley, Wa. He was born May 11, 1923 in Minneapolis, Minnesota to Gilbert and Barbara Lorentz. He graduated from Annandale, Minnesota high school in 1941 where he worked on the family farm until joining the US Navy in November of 1944 serving in WWII while stationed on the Escort Carrier Kadashan as an Aviation Boatswains mate 3rd class. After being honorably discharged from the Navy in June 1946, he returned to Minneapolis where he met the love of his life Nixola Anderson (Nixie). Ells and Nixie moved to San Diego, California in 1960. After Ells retired as an industrial electrician and Nixie's passing, he moved to Spokane to be closer to his brothers. Ells had a heart of Gold. His Love, kindness compassion and warmth was his gift to all that had the privilege of knowing him. He also had hands of Gold. There was no project too big or crazy for him. He was not afraid to tackle anything. These are just a few of the qualities that made him the wonderful man that he was. He will be greatly missed. He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Lucille and Laverne; brothers, Donald and Harry and wives; Thelma ?Nixie? (1949-1982) and Gertrude (1998-2012). Survivors include children Richard ?Terry? (Barbara) Atherton of Excelsior, MN, Thomas Atherton of Yuma, AZ, and Sharyl (Robert) Harrison of Yuma, AZ, 11 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great-grandchildren; sister-in-law Eloise Lorentz, and several cousins, nieces and nephews. Memorial services will be held at Good Samaritan Community Center, 17121 E 8th Ave, Spokane Valley, WA on Sunday, September 27th at 1pm with Chaplain Manny Denning officiating.
