Eva May Davis Obituary (Age 82) She was born October 7, 1934, passed away on September 27, 2017 at Hospice House of Spokane. Eva was born in Calhan, Colorado, to Verda and Clarence Dobbins. Eva was one of 11 children. The family moved from Colorado to the Spokane area in 1936. Eva graduated from Otis Orchards high school in 1952. Eva started attending Northwest Christian College in the fall of 1952 and her high school sweetheart, Gail Davis, followed her to NCC in January of 1953 and they were married in September 1953. Eva and Gail served together at several different churches during their ministry Marcola Church of Christ in Marcola, Oregon; First Christian Church in Carmen, Oklahoma; Central Christian Church in Prosser, Washington; Treasure Valley Christian Church in Caldwell, Idaho; and North Hill Christian Church in Spokane, Washington. Eva served on the regional staff of the Northwest Christian Church, Disciples of Christ. Eva and Gail moved to Arizona in 1992, where Eva worked for the Wheat Organization which helped women seeking to return to gainful employment, and she was on the staff of the East Mesa Christian Church. Eva retired in 1997 but continued to serve churches with her husband on an interim basis several times in retirement. Eva served in many different roles in Womens ministry both at her local church and in regional ministries, and she traveled to the national womens quadrennial convention many years with friends and her sisters. Eva received the Christian Women United Valiant Woman award in 1997. Eva had a true servants heart in her church and in her community. She was a church camp counselor, sang in church choir and went on several youth choir tours, she served on the diaconate at her church and developed a Disciple Peace Fellowship in the Northwest region. Eva worked at the local food bank, VOA Crosswalk, and Meals on Wheels. She was a Girl Scout leader, worked in a Migrant ministry program, a tutor for ESL program and volunteered at her daughters school as a reading tutor. Evas health was a challenge her whole life. She lost her left eye to scarlet fever and the measles at age two, and she spent a year in Spokane Shriners hospital with rheumatic fever while in elementary school. The rheumatic fever damaged her heart which resulted in three open-heart surgeries for valve replacements as an adult. Even with all of these health issues Eva always put others first whether it was her family, church members or people in the community. She loved to serve and to share Christs love with others. Eva loved spending time with her family her beloved husband and partner of 61 years, her daughters, son-in-law, and especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Family was always very important to Eva the family she grew up with and the family she raised. The bi-annual Dobbins family reunion was always a highlight for Eva that she looked forward to for months in advance. Eva is survived by her daughters Sheri Kight and Judy Davis; grandchildren Jeremy Kight, Stephanie and Eric Ehui, Charles and Michelle Harris and Jacob Davis; great-grandchildren Cameron and Jordan Harris and Olivia Ehui; six of her siblings: Glenn Dobbins, Esther Mayoh, Jerld Dobbins, Jeri Love, Doyle Dobbins and Evelyn Mitchell. She is preceded in death by her husband, Gail Davis, her parents, Verda and Clarence Dobbins, her siblings Ivan Dobbins, Kenneth Dobbins, Marietta Dobbins and Clelia Sherwood and her son-in-law Gary Kight. The memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 7 at 1:30pm at North Hill Christian Church, 46
