Eva Newkirk

Eva Newkirk Obituary (Age 89) Eva Newkirk went to her Heavenly Home on July 8, 2012. The tenth child of Jacob and Gertie Cline, she was born in Putnam, Oklahoma, August 16, 1922. Eva was the first of her immediate family to go to college. She attended Springfield Business College and used the skills she gained there working at a seed company and lumber yard after moving to Caldwell, Idaho. Eva married Ivan Newkirk in 1951 and moved to Spokane, Washington. They began their family in 1952, raising 4 children while building their home in the Morgan Acres area. Ruth Ryan (Dale), Larry Newkirk (Ruth), Linda McIntosh (Marc) and James Newkirk (Sherrie) all live in the Spokane area. As well as using her business skills while selling Tupperware, Saladmaster Cookware, Studiogirl Cosmetics, Eva worked for some time for the USPS. She was also Precinct committee woman for approximately 30 years. Eva could never be called just a housewife. She grew and preserved most of the food for her family, was involved in her community, and church. She began attending Hillyard Christian Church in 1956 and continued at Westgate Christian Church, where she was a member, until her death. In the early 1970's Eva and Ivan purchased their dream property just south of Deer Park, Washington and built their final home there. Ivan passed away at their home August 19, 2002. Eva spent the last 4 years of her life in an assisted living home in the Spokane Valley. A service in her memory will be held at 2 pm Saturday July 14 at Westgate Christian Church, 7111 N Nine Mile Rd Spokane, Wa 99208. Donations may be made to Hospice of Spokane or any charity of your choice.
