Evelyn Christina (Wellhouser) DeLange, 84, of Spokane, WA passed away peacefully on October 2nd, 2026, at Hospice House of Spokane.

Born on December 24th, 1941, in Wallace, ID, to Henry Frederick and Stella May, she grew up with a deep love for her family. She attended North Central High School, class of 1960, where she excelled in sewing, Track & Field and Sharp Shooting with the local National Rifle Association League where she earned the title of JR Division Marksmen. She was also avid bowler, involved with the local intramural softball team, and Hits & Misses square dance group. She started her career as a Candy Striper at Riverview Nursing Home and continued on to be a clerk typist for the Spokane County Courthouse. By the time of her retirement she was a veteran of 49 years for the State, which included the Department of Transportation.

She is survived by her beloved daughter, Christina Ann, born on September 28th, 1960. As a mother, she brought immense warmth, guidance, and joy to her only child. Together they built a life filled with many memories of adventure, a little mischief, and profound love. They were best friends.

She was known for her infectious laugh, fierce loyalty, and kind heart. Her passion for connection & community involvement led her to be the Costume Chairman for the Spokane Silver Spurs, a local dance group founded in Spokane that took mother and daughter on tours across America – including Hawaii, as well as Europe and Canada between the years of 1975-1979. Whatever group or setting she was found in, her presence made everyone around her feel cared for and valued.

She is survived by her granddaughter Stephanie Pauline Krauel. Together with Stephanie, she loved feeding ducks, squirrels, and turkeys as well as attending 4-H horse shows to support her “grand-filly” Ellie. She also enjoyed camping with Stephanie and her mother Stella – affectionally known as Grandma & Grandma Great. Her warmth, wisdom, and endless patience left a lasting impression on Stephanie – then, now, and forever.

She was an avid scrapbooker within a close community she considered her “framly”

She was preceded in death by her parents Henry and Stella. Brother Donny. Great grandmother Dolly Fosket Christensen. Henry and Jeanne DeLange. Lauren. And many adored cats.

The love you had for your family and friends will be treasured the rest of our lives. We love you and will miss you.

A celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, October 17th at 2:00PM at Heritage Funeral Home, 508 N Government Wy, Spokane, WA 99224
