Evelyn Spurlock

April 03, 1950 - November 28, 2017

Evelyn Spurlock Obituary Having been given this gift of a wonderful life, it is time for my journey into the next one. This has been hard. But I know that I was a lucky mother of two well-rounded, intelligent, and loyal children, and for this I am grateful. I was first diagnosed in February 2017 with stage IV non-small cell lung cancer. The treatment I received wasnt strong enough to beat the cancer, it moved into my abdomen in June. I have had an interesting life with all the ups and downs, travels here and there and back again; the culmination of these experiences having provided a very rich and enjoyable life. Short of it is, I am at peace. And on that upbeat note, I shall take my leave and go to the warmth of the sun, the shining glare of the moon, the sounds of the ocean and sand between my toes of the tropical beaches of Hawaii and the cool beauty of the Oregon coastline, that euphoric evening stroll down the Las Vegas Strip, and the lasting memory of my childrens and grandchildrens hands in mine. Evelyn passed away peacefully with her children by her side, on November 28, 2017. She was born on April 3, 1950 to the late Antonio Van Uitert Jr. and Evelyn Helen Alcott Moser. Evelyn grew up in Bend, OR, where she attended and graduated from Bend Senior High School in 1968; and she worked all her life in the health and nutrition industry. Evelyn was preceded in death by her husband, Randal Randy Jesse Spurlock, and is survived by her loving children, Troy Wayne Spurlock (Norma-Jean) of Newberg, OR and daughter Tanya Bly (Jay) of Mead, WA; two grandchildren, Connor and Ashlyn Bly; and her brother, Gary Van Uitert. She also leaves behind a lot of caring relatives and friends. A Celebration of Life will be held for Evelyn at Heritage Funeral Home on December 9, 2017, at 1:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, please donate to Hospice House of Spokane North. It is a wonderful place that allows you to spend a more meaningful time with your loved one, leaving the nursing to those there to help us. To plant a beautiful memorial tree in memory of Evelyn, please visit our Tree Store.
