Evonne Claire (Evey) Miller Obituary
(Age 70)
Passed away on the morning of Sunday, November 1, 2015 at Holy Family Hospital. She was born April 12, 1945 in Spokane and raised by her parents Clare and Evelyn Evey. She spent the majority of her early years in Spokane, aside from a few years in Alaska, and was present when Alaska gained statehood. She also spent time in Los Angeles before settling down permanently in Spokane. She graduated from Rogers High School and Eastern Washington University, where she received a B.A. in Psychology in 1993, and was a member of Psi Chi, the International Honor Society in Psychology. She worked at Blair TV in Los Angeles and KREM Radio in Spokane.
She married her former spouse in 1971 and took time off to raise her two sons before returning to work, counseling people struggling with substance abuse. In the years she wasn?t employed she unofficially counseled friends, family and dozens of random strangers that looked like they needed a friendly ear.
She loved gardening, bird-watching, reading, boating, watching old horror movies, snowmobiling, bicycling and caring for her dogs. She loved to travel, and visited many different places including England, France, Germany, Liechtenstein, and Switzerland as well as Cancun, Mexico. Sadly, she never mastered driving on the wrong side of the road.
She volunteered at the Community Mental Health Crisis Hotline and was a parent volunteer at McDonald Elementary and Evergreen Junior High.
She is survived by her son Jeffrey Miller and his wife Aubrey, of Seattle; her son Adam Miller and his wife Kira, of Spokane; her brother Stuart Evey and his wife Mary, of Spokane; her sister Diana Martin of Spokane; her nieces Christine Evey and Susan Glamuzina of Los Angeles, CA; and the father of her children, James Miller of Spokane.
She was preceded in death by her father Clare Evey in 1991 and mother Evelyn Evey in 2000.
A Memorial Service will be held on Monday, November 23, at 1 p.m. at Heritage Funeral Chapel.
