Floyd Evan Lauersen Obituary Floyd Evan Lauersen, born July 26, 1933 in Webster, SD, passed away April 17, 2014 in Spokane, WA. Floyd, who was known as Evan to many for the first 20 years of his life, was born to Rev. Floyd E. and Millicent Lauersen. He was the first of three children, the other two sisters, Lois and Marie. They grew up in South Dakota, Minnesota, and Nebraska. Floyd graduated from Luther Academy in Wahoo, NE, where his father was president. He then got his B.A. at the University of Minnesota in Duluth in 1958. Upon graduation he moved to St. Paul, MN, where he began a series of jobs in the traffic planning field for the state of Minnesota, Minneapolis, Memphis, and Spokane. In 1984 he went to work for the City of Spokane in the Traffic Engineering Department until his retirement in 1998.Floyd married Marjorie (Dahl) Lauersen on May 20, 1961. They had three daughters: Ruth, Spokane; Sandy (Anderson), Fredericksburg, VA; Ann (deceased); and one son, Eric, Spokane.Prior to becoming very busy with his volunteer work Floyd enjoyed fishing, hunting, and camping. Traveling to visit family across the country was a lifelong commitment. He was a long time member of Salem Lutheran Church. He served as the council president and was treasurer for many years. He also served on the boards of Riverview Retirement, Lutheran Outdoor Ministries (Lutherhaven), Our Place Community Ministries, Spokane Urban Ministries, and was founding member of Salem Arms (now Salem Arms Community Housing). He is survived by his wife Marjorie, daughters Ruth and Sandy and son, Eric (Carla). He is also survived by his sisters Lois Peterson (Charles), of Rockford, IL and Marie Fournier (Jerry), Arvada, CO and one brother-in-law, Ray Dahl (Pat), Duluth, MN. Additionally he is survived by two grandchildren, Amy Garcia (Eduardo) and James Anderson of northern Virginia and one step-great grandchild, Alan Garcia, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and their children. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 26 at 2:00 p.m. at Salem Lutheran Church at 1428 W. Broadway, Spokane, WA. 99201. In lieu of flowers please send memorials in Floyds name to Salem Lutheran or Salem Arms Community Housing at 1022 W. Shannon. Spokane, WA 99205.
