Fredrick Martin Roessler Obituary (Age 88) Beloved Husband, Father and Grandfather Fred Martin Roessler passed away September 8, 2011 at the Spokane Deaconess Medical Center. He was born on October 14, 1922 to Ludwig Roessler and Ann Kraft in San Francisco, CA. He grew up in Fresno, CA and joined the National Guard in 1939. Fred started with the infantry, transferred to signal corps and then transferred to United States Army Air Corps where he flew many missions in B24 Liberators for the 484th Bomb Group. He met Thelma Peters in 1945 they married and saw the world. In Japan they gave birth to their first son Fred W. and eventually moved back to the states. He attended UCLA in California and completed his education at Texas Tech University where he received a Bachelor of Science in Industrial Engineering at Texas Tech in Lubbock, TX, and while there they gave birth to their second child, this time a daughter whom they named Carol. Fred moved his growing family to Ohio to continue his career as an Industrial engineer at Wright Patterson Air Force Base in Dayton Ohio where they had their third child, a boy they named David. In 1964 Fred retired as a Major from the Air Force and moved his family to Palo Alto, CA. Having retired from his successful career in 1984 he moved to Santa Maria, CA. In 2005 Fred and Thelma moved to Spokane, WA. where they both enjoyed spending time with family. Fred enjoyed gardening, reading, creating handmade rugs, telling stories about the war, spending time with his children and family, and finding out what was new with his grandson Max. But most of all he loved spending time with his wife Thelma. In 2010 they celebrated their 66th wedding anniversary. Fred is survived by his by his children Fred W., Carol, David; his daughters-in-law Donnasue and Ingrid; and his grandson Max. The Roesslers wish to thank all our family, friends, neighbors and Comfort Keepers for their support and help. We are going to miss you dad. Graveside Service will be held at 10:00am Thursday, September 15th at Riverside Memorial Park. All friends are welcome.
