Freeman Simmons Obituary Rev. Simmons is the Pastor Emeritus of Morning Star Missionary Baptist Church in Spokane. His parents were the late Mr. Jim Simmons and Mrs. Rebecca Simmons. He was married to Mrs. W. Mae Simmons and they have one son, George. Rev. Simmons was born in Hattiesburg, Mississippi, June 1, 1922. He attended public school in Hattiesburg and college in Seattle. Rev. Simmons acknowledged Christ as his personal Savior in the year of 1952 at Mount Zion Church in Bremerton, WA. He was licensed to preach in 1962. He was ordained in 1967 and called to the pastorate of Morning Star in November 1967, retiring in 1999. He leaves to cherish his memory his loving and devoted wife Mae of 48 years of Spokane, his son George Elleby of Seattle. There were brothers and sisters all gone home to be with our Heavenly Father with the exception of three siblings, Hazel Hunter (Bobbie), Chicago, Leatha McGee, Hattiesburg, and James Simmons (Lisa), Baton Rouge, LA. There are many nieces, nephews and friends. Funeral Services will be 11:00 am, Saturday, June 25 at the Morning Star Missionary Baptist Church, 3909 West Rowan. Memorial contributions may be made to the Rev. Freeman Simmons Memorial Fund, % Morning Star Church.
