Fumiko "Archie" Matsumoto Obituary
Archie was born on August 22, 1922 in Seattle and passed away on November 28, 2011 in Spokane. She was preceded in death by her brothers Tadashi, Shigeru, and Toshio Matsumoto and her sister Michiko Fujioka. She is survived by her brother Sumio (George) Matsumoto of Richland, Washington; her sister Miyoko (Marian) Low of Toronto, Canada; and numerous nieces and nephews. Archie grew up in Kent, Washington. She spent the World War II years in relocation camps in Pinedale, California, Tule Lake, California, and Minidoka, Idaho. She moved to Spokane in 1945 and operated a tailor shop out of her home for over 50 years. She was an active member of St. John's Cathedral, Altrusa Club and spent many years as a volunteer for Meals on Wheels. Archie received wonderful care at Maplewood Gardens, North Central Care Center, and Clare Bridge of Spokane. Special thanks to Beth Priest of Tiller Care Strategies for years of exceptional kindness.
