October 21, 1932 - March 27, 2018
G. Kathleen Scott Obituary (Age 85) Kathleen Scott passed on peacefully in her home at Guardian Angel Homes, Liberty Lake, WA on March 27, 2018. Born October 1932, in Daviess County, Pattonsburg, MO to Alta Pearl (Swope) and Edgar Dale Daniel. Kathleen graduated from Pattonsburg High School where her teacher told her she would never succeed in the accounting world. She volunteered her time as a Gray Lady at Childrens Mercy caring for babies and children in the burn unit ward and worked for TWAs accounting department in Kansas City where she eventually met her partner and life love, Bob Scott. They were married March 1, 1964, in the Little Chapel of the West, NV, and soon after moved from Kansas City to McMinnville, OR to help care for his mother and to begin their journey together. Although Kathleen never learned to swim, that never stopped her from being on the water - deep sea fishing off the coast of Florida with her friend Billie, trolling for salmon in Puget Sound with Bob or water skiing on the Snake River. Every time Bob was promoted and had to move, Kathleen was right there to pack up the home, sell it, scout for the new home, unpack, and settle the family in. As Kathleen supported Bob, he supported and encouraged her as well. When she wanted to start her own tax accounting business, Bob told her to go for it. As she did, she was very successful with her business helping over 600 clients lessen their tax burden or find a greater refund. She deeply cared about each person and family, always wanting to help where she could and made several friends over the years. When it was time to retire, Kathleen and Bob visited several different towns in the US and decided on Spokane to be their final home. Living on an acre lot, Kathleen worked in the yard keeping it as pristine as she could while Bob was off golfing one of the many nearby courses. When tax season came around, Kathleen wanted to pull herself out of retirement, so she volunteered for AARP and traveled to library sites where they offered free tax service. To keep her skills current, she had to take a test each year, only to score 100% each time with very little studying. When Bob was diagnosed with terminal cancer, Kathleen dove in to care for him, doing everything she could to keep him comfortable and happy. Kathleen had always been so grateful and appreciative of the many get well cards, jokes, and visits from family and friends, the kind gestures had meant a great deal to her and kept her strong. There was nothing Kathleen would not do for her family or friends. She did her best to complete Bobs wishes after he passed away. Hopefully, they are now on heavens beach playing cribbage and listening to melodies by Ray Price. Kathleen wore many hats - she was an incredible seamstress, enjoyed working in the yard (especially pulling weeds), knitting socks, embroidery on pillows, she always cooked enough to feed an army, house painting, putting up wallpaper, reupholstery, building a tree fort, refinishing an antique, canning pickles, jams, jellies, fruits, and vegetables, crafty with making St. Nicks, elves, or other festive ornaments - there really wasnt anything she wasnt willing to try at least once, even Pho noodles in Spokane. Kathleen was successful as a mother, grandmother, aunt, friend, sister, and worker. She was truly a gifted lady with class and orneriness. She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Oved, Eddie, and Jimmy; her sisters, Letha Shipers, Gwendola Spiers, and Wanda Maudie Youngs; brothers-in-law, Kermit Shipers, Jack Cornett, Bill Spiers, and Donald Breeze; sister-in-law, Betty Daniel; and her loving husband, Robert Bob Scott. She is survived by her sisters, Julia Cornett of Pattonsburg, and Eulonda Breeze of Hope, MO; brother-in-law JC Youngs of McFall, MO; son, Douglas Scott of Hebo, OR; daughter, Leslie (Bill) Jenner; grandson, Zachary Jenner, of Spokane Valley, WA; and numerous much-loved nieces and nephews of MO and OR. A graveside service will be held on Friday, April 6th at 2:30pm at Riverside Memorial Park, 508 N. Government Way, Spokane, WA. To plant a beautiful memorial tree in memory of G.
