Gaylon R. Jarvis Obituary
A sweet, kind and loving man went to be with His Lord on March 6, 2013. Gaylon R. Jarvis, born September 18, 1944 left this earth to join God after a long fight Leukemia. Gaylon lived his life here on earth by serving others. He would help whenever he saw the need with no expectation of reward or even thanks. He made friends with all he met. His employment reflected his education and his concern for others. He had a Master?s Degree in Personnel Management, a Bachelors of Business Management, a Degree in the Christian Ministry, and a State of California embalmer?s license. Gaylon served the people around him as a Funeral Director for 25 years in Southern California. He was always available in a time of need and had sympathy for those who grieved and to those needing a path to God and Christ. He preached the gospel of Christ both full time and part time in the Church of Christ and many smaller churches in California. Gaylon was one of the first ministers to create the ?JOY? (Jesus 1st, Others 2nd and you last) Bus ministry. As assistant minister in Redlands, California, he ran five buses with crews, which brought 250 children to church services. For the last four years Gaylon?s spiritual home was the Unity Center of North Spokane where he endeared himself to all as he freely shared his love, friendship, humor, wisdom and service, and where he will be greatly missed. Gaylon is survived by his wife of 48 years, Susan, his daughter Jeannette, his son Johnathan and wife Michele, and his daughter Judith Sue, seven grandchildren, and one great-granddaughter. He is also survived by his brother Calvin Jarvis and wife Carol, sister Nancy and husband Jim. Gaylon also leaves aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews to remember him. Gaylon is preceded in death by his parents, his son Donald Alan, and his nephew Ronald Jarvis. Worship in Gaylon?s honor will be held Sunday March 17, 2013 at 11 am at the North Unity Center, 4123 E Lincoln Rd, Spokane, WA. Gaylon and his family have requested in lieu of flowers a donation to the building fund of the North Unity Center be made at P.O. Box 28127, Spokane, WA 99228 or the American Cancer Society.
