George A. Schieche Obituary (Age 87) Born to Joseph and Hazel (Hubbard) Schieche near St. Maries, ID, January 10, 1923 the last of seven siblings, George, 87, recently died at his peaceful home in Bayview, ID. He grew up in the town of Spangle, WA where he graduated from Spangle High School in 1941. He married the love of his life, Joan Byers in 1942. The result of that union was the birth of four children, Connie Jo, Dennis George, Michael Buel and Lola Louise. George was in the Navy from 1943 to 1945, receiving all of his training near his Bayview home at the Farragut training facility. He was a meat cutter his whole working career, with 44 years mostly spent with Swift & Company in Spokane. Upon retirement in 1988 he moved to Bayview. George was predeceased by his parents Joe and Hazel Schieche, his brothers Claude and Joseph, his sister Mary Alice Warwick, his wife, Joan, and an infant son, Dennis. He is survived by his two daughters, Connie Jo of Ellensburg, and Lola Louise (Tom Contreras) of Evans, CO, his son Michael of Spokane, three sisters Viola Sweet, Jamie Bingham, and Ann Orwiler, and by numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. He was a life member of both the Blue Lodge #131 in Spangle, and the American Legion Post #141 in Athol, ID. A Graveside Service will be 1:00 PM, Monday, May 3rd at Spokane Memorial Gardens, 5909 S. Cheney Spokane Road. In lieu of flowers it has been suggested that memorial contributions be sent to "Susan G. Komen for the Cure", 1315 N. Napa Street, Suite 3, Spokane, WA 99202.
