George Ellsworth Jacobson

George Ellsworth Jacobson Obituary George passed away peacefully at home, September 21, 2017 in Spokane, WA where he lived most of his life. He was born on April 23, 1926 to Harry and Ruby Jacobson in Minot, ND. George attended school in Minot from the 2nd grade through high school. He worked multiple jobs as a young man; as a farm hand, at the local grocery store, as a gandy dancer for the railroad and one summer as a cook at a large Boy Scout camp. When he graduated from high school, he enlisted in the Marine Corps and served two years in the Pacific Theater and nine months in Northern China. When discharged from service, his parents had moved to Bozeman, MT. He worked for his father in his fathers Dodge Plymouth dealership and carried mail on a rural route. He moved to Spokane, WA in 1949 and began working for the Spokane Fire Department, serving 31 years. On May 26, 1951, he married the love of his life, Lenora Rall, and they enjoyed 62 wonderful years together. One of Georges greatest joys in life was helping his family and other people. He was always willing to lend a hand. George and Lenora were long-time members of the Spokane Yacht Club and enjoyed taking the family boating on Lake Coeur dAlene. He was preceded in death by his wife, Lenora; his sister, Clarice Tootell; his daughter, Deborah Marie and son-in-law Michael Craig. He is survived by his son, Lance (Deidre); grandchildren, Rochelle, Neil (Kiana), Kyle, Jeremy (Tamara), Michael (Jacob), Aaron (Lora); and great-grandson, Kolton. A memorial Service will be held on October 2, 2017 at 10 am at St. Marks Lutheran Church, 316 E. 24th Ave., Spokane, WA.
