George Hoffman

June 14, 1922 - August 13, 2013

George Hoffman Obituary Congratulations on your passing but we will mourn your leaving. George passed away peacefully Tuesday night August 13th at 91 years old. George was the son of Swiss immigrants Rudolf and Hermine Hoffman. He was born and raised on a farm in Bozeman, Montana. George was a strong and courageous man with many accomplishments. He was a pilot in the United States Army Air Force during World War II. Upon his return he played football and graduated with a degree in civil engineering from Montana State University. George then met the love of his life, a beautiful young lady from Livingston MT named Helen Wolf, also a graduate from MSU. They were married 55 years. He was owner of a construction company in the Spokane Valley from 1961-1990 and built many of the schools in the area. After retirement he was an avid gardener and extensive traveler both in his RV and world tours. His activities included Shriners, Sigma Chi and MSU alumni, he was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Square Dancing, Bridge, hunting, fishing... He loved the beauty and fishing at their place on Priest Lake. The joy of his life was his family. His wife Helen (passed away in 2005); 3 children: Patty (Willy) Schumacher, David (Cindy) Hoffman, Carolyn (Dale) Strong; 9 grand children: Ben (Shawn), Elisabeth (Bryan), Joe (Samantha), Margaret (EJ), Lena (Torin), Dewey, Kris, Blake, and Lydia as well as 9 great-grandchildren. George was number 7 of 11 children. His only remaining sibling is Mary who lives in Bozeman. The family greatly appreciates the kind, compassionate care that he has received at Rockwood North. George was a man of integrity, hard work and family. Congratulations on your new set of wings, we know you always loved to fly! We will miss you dearly. A visitation will be held at Heritage Funeral Home on Thursday, August 22, 2013 from 10:00AM to 5:00PM. A Graveside Service with military honors will be held at Greenwood Memorial Terrace on Friday, August 23, 2013 at 10:00AM. A Memorial Service will follow at Heritage Funeral Home at 11:00AM.
