George Richard Sicilia Obituary

Went to be with his Lord and Savior on January 29, 2011 in Spokane, WA. He was born on July 3, 1923 at the family home on Wild Rose Prairie to Santo and Josephine Sicilia. He attended school at the Motfort School House. After serving as an Army Staff Sgt. in Japan during WWII he returned in 1947 to make his home in Spokane until his death. He worked at Kaiser Aluminum Mead for 36 years, which enabled him to enjoy his passions of farming, raising a variety of livestock, riding and shoeing horses. He was involved with his children in 4-H, Spokane Area Sheep Producers, Washington State Horseman, Wayside Community Hall, FOE, Whitworth Community Presbyterian Church, Steel Workers of America and was a charter member of the Prairie Riders Saddle Club. After retiring he kept very busy volunteering for RSVP, Westminster Food Bank, Meals on Wheels, SORE, and Whitworth Pres. Church. He and Lauralee enjoyed traveling extensively. George worked hard all of his life and will be remembered as a kind, generous, loving person who always had time to help anyone in need. His grandchildren will miss his unconditional love and active presence in their lives.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 59 years Lauralee M. Sicilia (2002). He is survived by his children Rick Sicilia (Cheryl), Rosalee Saad (Mike), Barbara Sicilia (Will Oakley), Gina Mosey (Damian). George has nine grandchildren Josh (Michelle), Brett Sicilia, Jonathan (Katie), Nicholas, Benjamin (Karie) Saad, Andres Martell, Theresa Mosey (Curt Hayes), Elizaeth Tellessen (Josh), Dawson Mosey (Julie), great-grandson Lincoln Saad, siblings Dorothy Bourne (Dick), James Sicilia (Pat), Charles Sicilia, numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. Graveside Service Friday, February 4th, 11:30 Wild Rose Prairie Cemetery. Memorial Service, 3:00 Whitworth Community Presbyterian Church, 312 W. Hawthorne Rd., Spokane, WA. Memorial gifts may be given to the Union Gospel Mission or Second Harvest Food Bank.
