George peacefully passed away August 16, 2009, following a battle with cancer. He joins his wife (Betty Jean) in heaven, who passed away just 8 months ago. They were married for 60 years. George was born on December 3rd in Colfax, WA. He grew up in Spokane, attending Stevens Elementary and West Valley High School. He moved to California where he worked in his family owned lumber mill. George and Betty were married on August 14, 1948 at the Hitching Post in CDA, ID. He was a Cub Scout, Boy Scout leader, he was active in little league baseball, PTA and church. George was a telephone equipment installer with Western Electric until his retirement. He engaged in several part-time jobs and quickly became known "Jack of All Trades". He was always available to lend a helping hand to neighbors, loved ones, and even complete strangers. He took a great joy in his beautiful gardens and grandchildren. George is survived by his sons Ron and wife Brenda of Medical Lake, WA, Keith and his wife Kimberly and six grandchildren of Kelso, WA, sisters: Patsy Bannon and Donna Coons of Lodi, CA, sister-in-law Sue Bannon of Spokane, and many nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, August 22, 2009 at 11:00AM at Heritage Funeral Home.
