Gerald Frank Reinhardt Obituary (Age 81) Spokane, WA, died Thursday, December 1, 2011, at Spokane Veterans Home where he lived for 8 years. He was born December 15, 1929, to Edwin E. and Goldene M. (Barto) Reinhardt in Nelson, WI. He graduated from Nelson High School in 1949. He enlisted in the Air Force that December and was discharged in 1953. After working with the Burlington Railroad, he re-enlisted in the Air Force in 1956. He served in Turkey, Korea, Japan and Germany. He also served stateside in Kansas, Texas and Washington. In Japan, he met Wakako Kagwa, whom he married December 21, 1961. She died March 8, 2004. His final assignment was at Fairchild AFB in Spokane, where he retired in January 1973 as an E-6 with 20 years of service. He entered civil service at the base in October 1973, serving there until 1993. Among his honors was being awarded the Guardsman Medal for Lifesaving Action in January 1987. He served as maintenance man at St. Mark's Lutheran Church in Spokane during retirement until suffering a stroke in 2003. The family appreciates the care given by Spokane Veterans Home. Gerald is survived by a daughter, Janet Carol, Spokane, a sister, Elaine (Ken) Brager, of Alma, WI; two brother-in-laws, Kenneth Jackelen (Helen) Ocala, FL, and Raymond Quarberg (Rosetta), Arkansaw, WI; three sister-in-laws, Takako Perry, Fredericksburg, VA; Hamako Treff, Pasadena, MD; and Hiroko Maeda, Fukuoka, Japan; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; an infant brother, Rodger; and two sisters, Joyce Jackelen and Arlene Quarberg. Memorial Service 2PM Friday, January 20, 2012 at St. Mark's Lutheran Church, 316 E. 24th Ave., Spokane, WA 99203.
