Gerald Saffel Obituary Gerald left us on November 12th keeping his sense of humor to the very end. Jerry, as he was known to friends and family was born December 18, 1940 in Chewelah, WA and raised in Republic, WA. He graduated from Republic High School in 1958. Jerry joined the U.S. Army in 1959 where he served four years and trained as a heavy duty mechanic. Two of those years were spent stationed in Thailand. Upon returning home he worked at NA Degerstrom Const. He later taught mechanics at Spokane Community College for two years. Jerry then moved on to work for Sunderland Const. and retired from Pounders Const. in 2005. Jerry met the love of his life Elsa Saffel and they were married September 8, 1979. Jerry was preceded in death by his mother and stepfather Bessie and Kenneth Drey. Along with his father Gordon Saffel and older brother Robert Saffel. Jerry is survived by his wife Elsa Saffel, Isabelle and Doyle Osborne and family, Dave and Val Saffel and family, Steven and Maureen Saffel and family, Mary and Dale Hann and family, Diana and Todd Bresser and family, James and Robin Alexander and family. Jerry is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Jerry was a great man who touched many lives; he will be missed by all. Especially by myself, love you Grandpa.
