Geraldine Sandgren Obituary (Age 94) Passed away Monday, May 26th at her home surrounded by her family. Geraldine was the second daughter born to parents Elijah Lee and Ludie Pearl Smith on April 1st, 1920 in Hope, New Mexico. Her family moved to Spokane from Phoenix, AZ in her late teens. Soon after graduating from North Central High School she met and married the love of her life, Harding "Sandy" Sandgren on August 17, 1940. They made their home in Spokane and raised two children, Patricia and Thomas. Geraldine worked off and on but mainly was a homemaker. During their retirement, she and Harding enjoyed traveling, golfing and their weekends at Deer Lake, where they had numerous friends. Geraldine loved her flower gardens and was an avid card player. She had played weekly, with friends, since the 1950s up until her passing. She was active in the retirement community at Arbor Grove, where she lived independently even after the death of Harding in 2005. She was preceded in death by her parents, brother, Bill Smith, sister Roberta McIlhenny, son Tom Sandgren, son-in-law Arthur St. Germain and grandson Scottie St. Germain. She is survived by daughter, Patricia St. Germain; grandchildren Dennis and Jerry St. Germain and Sandi Barker; great-grandchildren, Andrew, Scott, Cassidy and Noah Barker, Kathryn St. Germain and great-great-grandson Tre'Shaun St. Germain. Funeral Service will be held Friday, June 6th at 2pm at Heritage Funeral Chapel. Graveside service to follow at Fairmount Memorial Park, 5200 W Wellesley Ave. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial contributions to be made to Colton Jones directly at http://funds.gofundme.com/indes.php?route=fundmanager or the family will gladly pass them on.
