Glen E. Johnson

November 24, 1922 - March 18, 2011

Glen E. Johnson Obituary (Age 88) Glen was born on November 24, 1922 in Spokane to Ed and Beda Johnson. He grew up in Dalkena and Newport, WA. He graduated from Newport High School in 1941. After graduation he to work for National Cash Register until he entered the Coast Guard in 1942. After his honorable discharge in 1945 he again worked for National Cash register. He attended one semester at WSC in Pullman until being called home to help his father who became ill. In the spring of 1946 he met Lora Jean Blewett. They were married August 10, 1946. Glen started working for Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company in the spring of 1947. He had several jobs with Goodyear in Ephrata, WA, Eugene, OR and Burbank, CA. He and his wife returned to Spokane in 1954, they then moved to Missoula, MT in the fall of 1954. They returned to Spokane in 1956 and have lived here since. Glen retired on disability from Goodyear in 1981 due to a TIA (forerunner of a stroke). He thoroughly enjoyed hunting and fishing especially fly fishing at Yokum Lake. He was a member of the Masons, Scottish Rite and the Shriners. Glen is survived by his wife Jean of 64 years, as well as many cousins in Sweden. He was preceded in death by his parents. A special thanks goes to the doctors, nurses, and staff on the 7th floor at Sacred Heart Hospital who took such good care of Glen. At his request there will be no services. Burial will take place at Fairmount Memorial Park. Memorial contributions may be made to the Shriners Hospital for Children or the memorial of your choice.
